HR Manager

Our client is one of Europe’s largest independent bulk handling companies. Due to growth, they are looking for an experienced HR Manager at Holding level.

THE ORGANISATION

Our client is a private holding company providing logistical services in European deep sea ports.  The company is specialised in the transshipment, storage, blending and processing of dry bulk and liquid bulk products. The company pursues the further development of European dry and liquid bulk terminals and aims to create a diversified asset portfolio through greenfield development and the acquisition of existing terminals. To support the growth, the company is looking for an experienced HR Manager at Holding level. Operational HR takes place at the 22 terminals/sites (1.350+ FTE).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The HR Manager will have group HR responsibilities and is responsible for HR at Holding level. The HR Manager will report to the Executive Board and will be located at HQ in Rotterdam.

Since this is a new and stand-alone position, the HR Manager needs to be strategically strong, but also hands-on, pro-active and creative. He/she will be in close contact with the HR Managers at the different sites, but will also be a sparring partner for the Board.

Some of the most important HR topics to set-up are:

  • Succession Planning / Talent Management;
  • Compensation (salary benchmarking, job classification system etc.);
  • Recruitment;
  • Optimal relation with Unions and Works Councils;
  • (Internal) HR Communication;
  • Framing an HR cycle;
  • Support several optimization programs.

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum working experience of >10 years in HR;
  • Broad HR experience, preferably also at Holding / HQ level;
  • Required experience:
    – In developing corporate HR themes;
    – In setting up HR policies and structures;
    – With both growth as well as restructuring;
    – In a “demanding environment”;
    – In ports or “blue collar” environments;
    – In dealing with Unions and Works Councils.
  • Fluency in Dutch and English (written and oral);
  • Proficiency in additional languages (French, German) is an advantage.
